What does your job entail?

I assist in creating detailed drawings that help to convey the ideas of how our attractions will be laid out and designed. This can include the track layout, scene layouts, theming elements, animatronic locations, special effects placements, wall placements and heights. We can even get as nitty gritty electrical outlet placement, scene timing and vehicle distribution, door clearances, ADA compliancy, and so on. We are the ones who help to make these crazy concepts into an actual, buildable reality!

What is your favorite project?

Uncharted: The Quest for Aztec Gold. The Uncharted games mean a lot to my siblings and I, so telling them that I get to help design an Uncharted roller coaster was amazing!

What is your favorite park?

What is your favorite Dark Ride?

What is your favorite 80's, 90's song or song in general?

If you could be any animal in the world what would it be?

A Gorilla. Specifically, Winston the Silverback Gorilla from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. On his little sign next to the gorilla enclosure, it read that he’s “an easy going fellow who assesses the situation before acting”. And sure enough, there he was sitting in the shade, vibing, while watching over his troop. I strive to be like Winston every single day.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A paleontologist. Or a zookeeper! No… an actor! There are so many things I’d want to do if I didn’t already land my dream job.

What do you work toward in your free time?

I try to stay connected to my mechanical engineering roots and improve on my creative skills. I like to sculpt, build models, draw, and even try to be exposed or involved in the performing arts like theater, film, and music. When I get more space and resources, I’d love to build my own workshop where I can create my own animatronics at home! For now, I can start with smaller projects to get some programming and building practice.

Which storybook character do you relate to the most?

Figment. The world is an amazing place, and there’s so much in it that can inspire us. I hope to always have that childlike sense of wonder about the world, and to always be excited to learn new things and share that knowledge with everyone. Remember, nothing is more powerful than your imagination!
